Vicki was our doula for our first pregnancy. When we first met her, John and I had no idea what a doula was, but we were instantly impressed with Vicki’s extensive knowledge, support and understanding. Being first time parents-to-be, we knew very little about what to expect and worried about labour, but Vicki's calming presence leading up to and during the birth of our daughter gave us a sense of security and confidence so we could enjoy the experience. I am so grateful to Vicki for helping us feel at ease and comfortable with pain management techniques so we could have the natural childbirth we were hoping to have. Vicki was wonderful and I would recommend her in a second!

I am so glad that I hired Vicki to be our Doula.  This was my first baby and I was having anxiety over the labour and delivery.  I was sure that I was going to have an epidural but wanted support until my labour progressed to the point where that was possible.  While she is an advocate for natural childbirth, there was no judgement on my choice for medication.  My contractions started out very intense and close together.  She massaged my hips through every contraction and I am not sure how I would have made it through the hours until my epidural without her.  She has a whole ‘bag of tricks’ and made suggestions throughout the labour to make the pain more tolerable.  I particularly found the TENS machine helpful because of the difficult back labour I experienced..  She was very intuitive to my needs in a way that my husband couldn’t have been and she was also great support to him as well. The pictures that Vicki took in the labour room and the birth story she wrote are wonderful keepsakes.  She also provided helpful support after the birth regarding breastfeeding and other concerns I had via email and a home visit.  I would highly recommend her.  Thanks again Vicki!

Going in to childbirth is an experience that leaves you full of emotion.  Scared, stressed, worried, and full of anticipation as you get prepared for the miracle that is going to take place shortly.  We went into this not knowing what to expect and as first time parents, how exactly everything was going to take place.  We tried to gain experience and prepare ourselves by doing prenatal classes and lots of research and information online and reading books.  That is when we decided to use the assistance of a doula.  We found out about Vicki File and decided to give it a shot.  Looking back now, we don't know how we would have done it without her.  We met several times before birth to discuss how we wanted things to go.  We talked about relaxation methods, discussed pain medication and many other issues to make things go smoothly when the time came. 

During the birth, Vicki showed up in the early stages of labour.  She was calm and collected which helped us remain calm and focused on what we had discussed previously so we could have a safe  and relaxing birth experience.  Vicki was very good at helping with breathing and relaxing methods.  As we chose not to go with an epidural she helped through every stage of birth.  She was an excellent coach and we are sure things wouldn't have gone as well and smooth without her. 

We are blessed to have a healthy happy baby boy and would recommend Vicki and the services of a doula to anyone who is giving birth.  It was awesome to have a coach and an experienced person to give us guidance throughout this amazing experience.
